Overcoming By Turning Your Misery Into Ministry

BUT GOD shall remain our confession.
— Whit Devereaux

There is something that you overcame that once made you miserable. Think about that thing for a moment. Now, what can you share with others about your experience that will help them move past their past and overcome it? The world has need of you and your testimony! We know that the enemy comes to steal, kill, and destroy but that Jesus came so that we may have life (more abundantly). See John 10:10. That issue, circumstance, problem, illness - it was all designed to stop you…BUT GOD. What is holding you back from sharing?

I can recall sitting in a church service some years ago and hearing my Pastor say, “One day your misery will be your ministry.” Although I was still in the midst of my abusive relationship, experiencing depression, and occasional panic attacks…this gave me hope that one day would come soon and I’d no longer be in the bondage of what had me feeling miserable. In fact, I was so miserable that I often felt like life was no longer worth living,..BUT GOD. He restored my zest for life, my thirst for Him, and delivered me from the hands of the enemy.

Let’s define misery according to dictionary.com: mis·er·y

On this episode of "Wednesday's with Whit," I share the reason behind my why. My testimony is one that I believe many can relate to unfortunately as victims of abuse. However, it is a message that is needed to help set the captive free in reminding them that they are not alone.
