Wednesday's With Whit on Intellectual Radio: Overcoming Anxiety as an Entrepreneur

Happy New Year! It’s been a minute since my last blog post so I pray that you are doing well and that 2020 is off to a great start! My word for the year is Prosper and it’s rooted in the scripture Jeremiah 29:11. This is the scripture that will sustain me when motivation isn’t enough. My year is off to an amazing start and I thank God for that. This first week of the month though, if I can be honest, had me extremely triggered as co-parenting with my abusive ex made it increasingly difficult not to regress emotionally. I have come way too far in my healing process to revert to negative behavior, so what did I do? I resolved that it was time to get therapy. Yes therapy. It worked well for me in the past, but now that I am a busy mom and entrepreneur, I didn’t feel the need to make time for it. That is until life hit that first day of January with the repetitive condescending emails from my ex’s attempts to keep me in the bondage of abuse by using our child as a pawn. Yes using children falls right under the power and control wheel as a form of Domestic Violence. This incident made me think about how anxiety used to manifest for me when I did not know how to cope or manage it well. The chest pain that felt like a heart attack, insomnia, constant worry, and the loss of desire to do anything - oh not to mention agitation. I can’t afford to succumb to those symptoms, not now when life otherwise is so great; so when I started to get agitated I made a personal declaration and announced it on my social media page that my 2020 priority was to get a therapist. In fact, I wrote:

“I believe every mentor should have a mentor; every coach should have a coach; every therapist should have a therapist. Let’s normalize mental health support. Too many suffering in silence because they think they’re alone. 2020 my top priority is finding a therapist.”

Fast forward to Wednesday, January 8th. I was gifted a free show on Intellectual Radio courtesy of Wanda Bee and my client, Eboni Montsho to host Wednesday’s with Whit! What better time to talk about mental health support and overcoming anxiety as an entrepreneur! So I did it. I Courageously shared my struggle with anxiety as an entrepreneur and all of my other hats and what I do to overcome it and not let it stop me from pursuing my purpose. Watch as my special guest, Listiner Inspires, and I candidly share our struggles, practical tips, and faith based methods on “Overcoming Anxiety as an Entrepreneur.” Afterwards let me know if you suffer from anxiety what are some things you do to cope in the comments or if you learned a new method from watching the show, I want to hear that too! Thanks for your support always! #notbymyown
